Studies Show Debilitating Lung Disease Might Be Caused By Exposure To Cleaning Products
According to recently released scientific studies there appears to be a correlation between women who regularly use (and are exposed to) cleaning products and lung disease. According to one research study published in the American Thoracic Society's American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, regular use of cleaning sprays can have as much of an impact on a woman's health as smoking a pack of cigarettes a day. The study was conducted by scientists at Norway University of Bergen where they tracked 6,000 people, with an average age of 34 at the time of enrollment in the study, who used the cleaning products over a period of two decades. The scientists found that lung function decline in women who regularly used the products, such as those who worked as cleaners, was equivalent over the period to those with a 20-cigarette daily smoking habit. This study follows another similar type of study conducted by French scientists in September 2017, that found nurses who used disinfectants to clean surfaces at least once a week had a 24 percent to 32 percent increased risk of developing lung disease.
If you, or someone you know, is currently suffering from a debilitating lung disease, and there is reason to suspect that the lung disease was or may have been caused by regular exposure to cleaning products/sprays while at work, we highly recommend consulting with a workers' compensation attorney right away. Time is of the essence in these type of claims so do not delay.
I Received a Notice of Denial of Claim. What do I do now?
Since this is a very important event in the course of your workers’ compensation claim and there are strict deadlines to adhere to the best thing to do is to consult with a workers’ compensation attorney to discuss your options and strategies for overcoming the denial. The notice essentially means that the insurance company (or claims administrator) has decided to entirely deny all liability for the claim as alleged against them and thus you will receive no benefits unless you take further action. There are numerous reasons why an insurance company (or claims administrator) will deny your claim and thus consulting with a workers’ compensation attorney right away is crucial. Fortunately, our firm has seen denials before and so we’re comfortable with working with our clients towards attempts to overcome these denials.
